Fostering Regulatory Collaboration for excellence in Allied Health Education and Practice
On 21st August 2026, Ernest Cook University was honoured to host a delegation from the Allied Health Professionals Council, led by the Chairman of the Council, Prof. John Charles Okiria, for an important engagement focused on strengthening standards, regulation and professional practice within the allied health sector.
The engagement provided a valuable platform for constructive dialogue on key areas affecting allied health education and professional practice, including registration, licensing, supervision, compliance, professional standards, monitoring and the continuous development of competent healthcare professionals.
Discussions further underscored the critical role of collaboration between regulatory bodies and health training institutions in ensuring that graduates are adequately prepared to meet professional requirements and contribute effectively to Uganda’s healthcare system. The engagement also highlighted the importance of maintaining quality assurance, strengthening institutional compliance and aligning training with evolving professional and healthcare needs.
